"Parts Unknown" host Anthony Bourdain has a good feeling about Cologne, Germany. "This city charms you. It takes you in. It makes you feel welcome," he said.

Bourdain partakes in a series of petite glasses of K?lsch pale ale, the city's signature brew, with lifelong Cologne resident Heinz Gru?ne at Malzmu?hle brewhouse.

Nothing says Cologne like a tray of K?lsch. Cologne has a "non-douchey" beer culture, Bourdain said. "Here decent beer is a way of life. It's a birthright. You don't talk about it too much."

Bourdain and musician Irmin Schmidt, a founding member of the band CAN, finish a five-course tasting menu at Ox & Klee.

The Michelin-star restaurant Ox & Klee serves inventive, modern food.

Ox & Klee chef Daniel Gottschlich, left, and friend Dimi Katsavaris meet Bourdain for some authentic German street food including currywurst and Spiessbraten.

"Drunk or sober, good is good," Bourdain said. "And I want this, you want this. We all want this, right?"
